The essay prompt was “What would it mean to you to be awarded a NaphCare Foundation Scholarship?” I thought about things in my life that means a lot to me, so I began to write about how this scholarship will help benefit me and how much it would mean to be awarded it. It took me five times to perfect that essay. I wanted to make sure that was the best essay I probably would ever write in my life. The day that the essay was due, was the day I thought I would die. I was so anxious and scared at the same time. “Did I put my all into that essay?” “Will they choose me?” That is what went through my head as I clicked the left side of the computer mouse to submit my essay. …show more content…
When I unsealed the envelope, I was nervous to read it. I finally opened the letter and it said I did not receive the scholarship. My head started pounding with many questions. Not knowing what to do, I talked to my counselor to see why I did not get it. I was told that I missed the whole concept of the prompt, because I thought a little too much. Wanting the essay to be the best, I added things to it to make it sound professional and college-like. I remember going into detail about myself, accomplishments, goals, and a little detail of the extracurricular activities I attended. But, at the same time, I still focused on what the scholarship prompt was
