The role women have in society has changed greatly since Shakespearean times. Women still aren’t treated completely the same as men, but it sure has gotten much better. In Shakespearean times, women were treated like slaves. They were forced to be obedient to any male figure, and they didn’t have the right to stand up for themselves in any way. Much has changed since then, women can now do any job they want to. Women have also established many rights, such as voting. Women can now do any job that men can do. There are now many female bosses and CEOs of important companies such as Yahoo, Campbell’s Soup, Sam’s Club, Pepsi, and many more (Graves, Jada A). This change has left a lasting impact on today’s society and how we live our lives each and every day. With women having jobs and getting paid, just like men, our society has changed. Now there are double the amount of people working in the paid workforce making money and being able to provide for their families and communities. Women are also now provided with much more freedom, they don’t always have to listen to male figures and can live their lives for themselves. Just like Rosa Parks, women have made impacts on society because of their chance of freedom. If women’s roles never changed, women wouldn’t have the opportunity to make these impacts and many amazing things would have never happened. Right now 20 women are serving as senators for our country, they help our country stay happy and maintain a strong central government so our country can succeed (Center of American Women and Politics). The democrat running for president this year, Hillary Clinton, if voted to become president, will be the first woman to become the president of the United States. Women’s role changes have been very beneficial to society, and each gender will just become more equal from here
