My research took me to the three phases of the feminist movement. The first movement was relating to self- control and abolishing women’s suffrage”(The Three Waves of Feminism)This first wave of the movement was begun in the middle of the 19th century and pushed forward into the early 20th century. There were many reasons for this first wave, but mostly for the sake of women’s suffrage. During this wave, women were devoted to educate others on the suffrage of women. There were two women that were very significant to the first wave Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. These leaders of the movement and other activist pleaded with congress to give them a constitutional amendment to show their importance”The woman suffrage movement actually began in 1848, when the first women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York”(Women in the Progressive Era). The partnership between these two powerful women, was incredible. Both women shared in equal weight of the movement, Anthony was in charge of business and Stanton was in charge with the writing of their speeches”Together they edited and published a woman 's newspaper, the Revolution, from 1868 to 1870. In 1869, Anthony and Stanton formed the National Woman Suffrage Association. They traveled all over the country and abroad, promoting woman 's rights” (Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony). This power duo showed the women of all countries that, when women stick together they can conquer anything. Both women had their specific jobs that contributed to strengthening the movement. With this movement growing with the help of these women, the movement started to increase the growth of the wave and also the danger of women growing which led to the 2nd wave.
