The Invention That Changed My Life

Do you ever try to watch a video and it starts buffering because you have no wifi, well here's a brief story about wifi. A long time ago a beautiful actress, who had been very smart, invented wifi. Her name was Hedy Lamar. Around world war 2 she came up with a brilliant idea. She thought of frequency hopping to use for our soldiers as a code. After everyone said her idea was terrible, it eventually turned into wifi, and now it's used everyday. In my opinion, wifi is the greatest invention ever created. Everyday after school, I have some activity to do. Whether it's cheer practice or drama rehearsal. So when I come home I try to finish all my homework and then watch TV with my family. We watch our favorite shows together when we have free time. The type of TV I have is a Smart TV, which means its powered by wifi. So let's say that time were rough around the house and we didn't have enough money to pay the cable bill the wifi goes down and that means no TV. Today I had to go to school. My school provides us with iPads to use as a education device. Mainly all of my work must be completed on my iPad. Every single app on my electronic devices requires wifi. Especially for science class, whenever I have homework in that class I have to submit it online. I must use wifi to turn in my work, and if some reason I happen to not be able to send in my class/homework it goes in the grades as a 0%. Now let's fast forward to right this very second. The work I'm finishing right now is on my lovely iPad and soon I'll have to turn it in for a grade, by using my home wifi. Even in school we have to use wifi and use the correct one. If we don't connect to the right wifi server we get in trouble. Wow! I never would of thought that school would be so huge on using

However, Professor Bugeja’s survey does not show that students were distracted in class due to the installation of more wireless service - it simply indicates that students are distracted in class. Thus this does not corroborate with the author’s argument that wireless networks installed by schools have enabled distraction. Britland, however, does not make use of much evidence to support his argument that “the future of technology in education is the cloud” (Britland, 2013, para 6). Britland only introduced an iPad trial to demonstrate the effectiveness of iPads and hence mobile technology as an educational medium. However, the trial only takes into consideration a small sample size (11 teachers and 116 students) and is thus not indicative of the actual effectiveness of the iPad as an educational tool in schools.…

Derek Bok saw that the use of laptops and iPads in class has become a very common thing in today's educational society. With that observation he saw that students taking notes on their iPad or laptop had more opportunities to distract themselves. According to the article “Why You’re Addicted to TV” by Andrew Romano, on average, Americans watch more than five hours of television a day and in comparison to this statistic fact, I consider myself a healthy television watcher. Definitely, I don’t spend more than five hours daily setting in front of the TV or my computer watching shows or anything else. For sure, the primary reason for this is school since I have too many homework and new material to study and review. Moreover, I usually work 20 to 25 hours per week, which also takes a lot of time from my schedule. However, I do admit that when I have a less busy schedule like on vacations, I can probably watch more than ten episodes on Netflix per day and I will be under the classification…

Also, it helps me with connecting with my friends on social media instead of having to walk or drive all the way over to their house. In our generation, I can either snap, Facetime, tweet, or dm them, which is much easier. Wifi also helps me with my Apple products.…

This is a great thing for students because it keeps them organized and tidy. For example, teachers put grades and assign the homework on School Loop. Having technology to help students learn is helpful because it is a fast and easy way to look up information. Also students can help each other by texting if they don’t know how to do the assignment. Another reason why technology should not be stopped at school is because if the teachers are not prepared a week in advance, the students would not have a good time rushing to write all their homework and assignments down.…
