How Wazowski Changed My Life

As I walked past the TV, the tiny green creature in the screen suddenly caught my vision. His name was Mike Wazowski, a student in the Monster University. For the next one and a half hour, I watched Wazowski struggled to achieve his dream of becoming a scarer. During the process, he demonstrated courage, intelligence, and, most importantly, perseverance. As I watched him continuously practiced his scaring skills, I felt connected with this tiny green monster. Throughout my whole life, perseverance guides me to become a stronger person. Similar with Mike Wazowski, my persistent character enabled me to reach my limits and to complete seemingly impossible tasks. One of the challenges that tested my perseverance was the 69 km Cross Island Hiking Trip that I attended in ninth grade. On the first day of the trip, we walked 15 km. At night, I discovered that my toes were inflamed from injury. As the trip continued, I became very frustrated with the tiredness of carrying a 20kg backpack and the unbearable pain from my injured toes. In grade 11, I was enrolled in AP Language and Composition class. It was a college level English program offered for high school students. The course was very challenging for me. At first, our teacher required us to write a lot of different types of timed essays. Nonetheless, I wasn’t able to finish writing any essay within 45 minutes. As a result, I mostly received a 2 out of 9 on my essays. Although my scores were really low, I didn’t give up and dropped out from the class; instead, I worked extra harder. I forced myself to practice writing timed essays at home every day. Then, I would hand the essays to my teacher for corrections and suggestions. Finally, my grades started to improve. I was able to finish a two-page long essay within 40
