Brutus is a tragic hero because he was easily manipulated. When Brutus said “Since the quarrel will break no color” (11,1,28-29) this illustrates that Brutus is easily manipulated because he believed what the other men began to tell him. In the play Brutus states “I know no personal reaction cause to spurn at him, but for the general” (11, 1, 52) this illustrates that before Brutus agrees to the plan, he states that if he were to do anything it would be for all of the people and not for himself. This shows that Brutus is trusting the wrong people because he is going along with their plan to kill his friend. He has started to see no issues and trusts the men enough to go along with the plan they have created. This proves that Brutus is a tragic hero because he made something not okay (Caesar’s death) seem like it would be fine by listening to people he should not listen to. Along with Brutus’s last statement, he also states “Shall Rome stand under one man's awe? What Rome?” (11, 1, 52) this quote from the play reveals that it is unfair for the townspeople. If there is only one ruler then he makes all of the decisions. So the men believe that they should kill Caesar to get this control. Brutus trusted the men to get the right plans and be able to get the full control. What Brutus does not know is that the men are mostly using Brutus to get to Caesar. By trusting them this proves Caesar is a tragic hero because he let the men not only manipulate him, but get him to think like them
