Rather than focus on moral values or the Christian consumers that make up the gaming community, developers turned their sights towards a more pop culturally forward mindset. “Christians have worried about the influence of video games on young people, particularly young men (Paeth).” The pop culture in society today seems to be constantly changing in a way in which Christianity is unable to keep up with the norm that individuals today seem to experience. This notable change is one if the reasons that there are little to no Christian video game developing systems in circulation today. As Christians we have to guard ourselves against the secular nature that is being displayed through a wide variety of these digital games. As the industry grows however, it is unclear whether or not Christianity is breaking into the gaming culture or if it is being removed from it all together. Many of the people that participate in activities such as these perceive the virtual reality that they can find within video games to be an escape into a world of sin that they can’t participate in otherwise. This mindset can cause Christians to let their guards down and to let sin into their lives unknowingly. The similar goals and objectives that are shared by those that partake in these games have the ability to bring people together unlike any other communication device. Whether right next door or halfway around the world, the communication technology that has been incorporated into the video game community demonstrates to individuals that it is possible to communicate through this form of leisure. Video games have also been particularly influential to the youth in today’s society, leading them in a specific direction that is displayed through this activity. Influence from both the culture around it and the individuals who are buying these games have pushed this industry in a direction that almost completely removes them from the Christian community. Recently however, Christianity has been breaking into gaming little by little in the form of mobile gaming devices.
