Background checks are a good thing to use because the employer can see what the prospective employee has done in his or her life. For example, if someone has gotten 10 speeding tickets in the past year you can conclude that they might be late to work and that they are not accountable. When they see you're late to work or anything so much so that you have to speed, employers will most likely not hire you. They want responsible, accountable people in their workplace that take things seriously. One example of that would be if you hire a new employee and you noticed on the background check that they have been arrested for a few bar fights. Though most people wouldn't think much of it because it might have not been his fault, others would think about that and be wary of him or her being hostile to his or her co workers at the job place. If you see someone possibly being a threat to your other employees, you will want to know why it started and how you can fix it for the safety of everyone.
