The Catcher In The Rye is about a guy named Holden. He has been to many different schools and has either quit or gotten kicked out. He is now at Pencey. He just got kicked out of Pencey because he was failing everything except English. At the begin of the book it shows he going to one of his teacher’s house because he asked him. The teacher just kept nagging him because he knew that Holden could do so much better if he just applied himself. Then the guy who lives beside Holden and his roommate comes over and talks to him. His roommate, Stradlater told Holden that he was going out with a girl named Jane who said that she knew Holden. After Stradlater came back from his date him and Holden got into a big fight which left Holden with blood all over his face. He has been kicked of out many. I think that the author is showing how Holden has lived a pretty hard and independent live. At first thought that Holden was not really going to leave Pencey, however, I was wrong. He ended up leaving I just got the feeling that he kind of liked it there and he might try and stay. I also thought at first that Holden did not like Ackley but the more he talked to him I think he really likes him just doesn’t want to admit it.
Based on Holden’s actions provoking Stradlater I thought they were going to get into a fight. I just did not think it would be as bad as it was. I thought when he was in the taxi heading to his house he was just going to go home but he did not. Now I think that instead of going home on Wednesday I think he will wait until later to go home.
