The differences in the portrayal of Beowulf’s character is that he is not as loyal to his men or family, his mortality is not the same, and his independence is varied throughout in the movie. Beowulf is also shown more selfish in the film, he chases glory in both, but in the movie he was shown only thinking of himself. Now it can be argued that his selfishness if shown in both, but the movie portrayed him as a liar to claim his glory over Grendel which comes back to get him later.
