From the first day to today, I feel that I have learned a lot and I have also improved my writing skills immensely. Before, I was afraid of writing, even now, as my writing have fared, I am still little afraid of writing. But, now I know that if I surpass my fear for writing, then there is hope. Hope to be even better in writing in the future. I remember my first major composition project for this class. I was happy when I heard the prompt for writing project 1. But, I was also terrified because I could not put my feelings and ideas, my experience, in to words. I was always bad at expressing myself through writing in English. But, now, I feel confident enough that if I have to write an essay, I would not have a panic attack or I would not be very conscious or protective about expressing myself.

Through taking time to put in extra effort and really absorbing the material, I have taken full advantage of all the opportunities I have got in this course for my intellectual growth.

For almost all of my essays, I got grades around 88 and 89. Now, just to remember what I got for my first three writing projects, I opened my grades for this class and I saw that I got a 97 for Writing Project 4. I could not believe my eyes. Thank you, Professor Droz, for making my wish come true. Also, I am not complaining about what I got because I believe that I deserved what I got for my grades. And, even I would have been surprised if I would have got a 90 for Writing Project 1 because I did not expect it. I have always tried to take advantage of the revision opportunities that we were given throughout this course because I have learned from my experience to never let go of any opportunities because not everyone gets them. I think that my final grade should be 90 or above because I have worked very hard for every assignments and I should get this grade as a motivating factor to do even better in

Throughout my educational career standardized testing has been a major part in determining whether or not you can proceed to the next grade or whether you have to take the class again. A Lot of kids that were my age when I had to take the STAAR test usually dreaded having to take a standardized test like the STAAR English II exam. I was no different, I was one of those kids who just wanted to get this test done with and move one. For a while this philosophy of mine worked, however that all would change when I ended up failing the English II STAAR test during my sophomore year of high school. Thus leading to a change in how I would view standardized testing and how my writing composition skills would eventually improve and affect my life.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

Throughout the ENGL 1101 course, I have drastically noticed my strengths and weaknesses in my writing from all of the assignments I have written. For instance, in the first major writing assignment I was assigned to write a personal narrative pertaining to an event or critical point that happened in my life. Throughout out this essay, I noticed that I had strengths in guiding the reader, such as using transition words and placing the information in chronological order. Although, I noticed I had weaknesses as well, such as being detailed with my essay, using words correctly, and having a lot of grammatical errors, such as comma splices, fragmented sentences, and incorrect verb tenses. Now that the course is coming to an end, I noticed that I excel in guiding the reader,…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…
