Our soccer season ended on Saturday, it was not a good day. Not only did my teams season end poorly, but my personal performance stunk pretty bad as well. So, me and my dad were on our way home, and got in a big argument over him saying,” You were not mentally or physically there throughout the season”. Since I play travel soccer our game season is over but our practice season was not. Because my season was over, I really did not want to practice since my games were over but I know I need to. Since I don’t want to practice me and my dad get in another argument, over me not wanting to practice. Also, we were fighting because I was lacking effort throughout the season, which makes my dad extremely mad. So, we did not talk the rest of the way home. …show more content…
I told him I really don’t care if I play soccer anymore. My dad said,” now I know and I mean I KNOW that is not true. So, he calmed down and me and him sat down and talked about what I really wanted. What I really wanted was to have to put down the work, so that I would be a great soccer player for my middle school

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

Elan’s Soccer Memoir I have been playing soccer since I was two years old. I first started playing on the sidelines of my older brother’s soccer games. The little siblings would run around on the side lines kicking a ball around instead of watching our brothers play. While I was at preschool I would play soccer next to the building. The other kids would shoot on me and I would play goalie.…

Lupe's father has eyes like a bullfighter, real shiny and hard so you know he could just stand there until the very last second and stick a knife in your neck right when you thought you were winning. I knew he was going to be furious about his truck that I lied about using and crashing.…

Monday, August 22nd, 2016, approximately 10 o’clock PM. I arrived home after a typical summer night out with my friends at the local Applebee’s, however I was greeted at the door by my already enraged father. Before I had time to take my shoes off of my feet, my father was already ridiculing me, spouting phrases such as “you’re so irresponsible” and “you cannot be trusted with anything.” Now of course there was some foul language included sporadically in those remarks, but overall I was shocked at why I was being attacked seemingly unprovoked. My father then decided to inform me that tomorrow at 8 AM I had to report to the soccer fields at Holy Ghost Preparatory School for soccer tryouts.…

My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…

The list could go on and on about what is wrong with high school sports in this generation. It starts when they’re young, parent coaches who only qualify because they played the specific sport when they were younger. That is brought into high school, with their child playing the same sport they “coach”, not getting to experience anything other than what their parent’s knowledge and what they could tell them. I’m not saying all high school athletes who are coached by their parents aren’t going to get any better, but I am saying that if you are going to hire a coach for a program, make sure they are more qualified than just being a parent in the district or having a little playing experience. High school is the preparation stage for college, both academically and athletically.…

The debate of which sport is better futbol or american football has been around for a long time, and there seems to be no answer to satisfy everyone no matter how big the popularity of futbol overshadows its counterpart.
