Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, born January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria is one of the most well known and prolific composers of the classical era.
As a child prodigy Mozart learned to play the piano at the age of three by watching his father teach his is older sister. By the age of six Mozart was composing his own music and with his sister, Nannerl, traveling Europe to preform concerts. During these travels young Wolfgang met Johann Christian Bach (youngest son of Johann Sebastian Bach) in which Mozart took great liking to and used similar styles in his own music. In 1776, he began turning his efforts to piano concertos, and would finish Piano Concerto No. 9 in E flat major just after he turned the young age of 21. Soon Mozart would go on to look for a bigger role in the music world, that would also bring him more money. He would find work in Vienna writing pieces for publication and working with other composers while giving private lessons to young hopefuls. during this time is when he would find and marry his wife Constanze. Wolfgang and Constanze began to live a lavish lifestyle at the great success of his compositions but this would soon lead Wolfgang to a depressed state with the many stresses that came with this lifestyle. He composed Piano Concerto 21 at his peak in 1785, and just days after the competition of his darkest piece in D minor, this would be his final year of being in such high demand for his work. You can see this mix of emotions in Piano Concerto 21 and his piece in D minor, with one being dark and gloomy, while the other is more sunny and light. With his decline in popularity, Mozarts lifestyle soon caught up with him and forced him and his family into poverty where he died
