Ian is a mechanical engineer who worked out of his home while his wife Lisa worked at the local printing shop. In order to save on the cost of child care expenses he and Lisa decided that since he worked at home he would take care of their 2-year old son Michael instead of enrolling him in a Day Care program. Ian has been caring for Michael for the past year since Lisa returned to work after her maternity leave. He began to find the experience of working at home isolating and noticed that the more active Michael became he was becoming less patient with him and was spending an increasing amount of time trying to restrict his exploration and disciplining him. This brought back memories of his own childhood experiences with his father. Growing up he remembered his relationship with his father as being more negative than positive. His dominant memory of his father was of him being a strict disciplinarian and he had decided early in life that should he become a father, he would be a more nurturing father than his own father was. He suddenly realized that they were talking to each other a lot more than they did and were talking about interests other than focusing on Michael. For the first time they both attended a community fair put on by the Residents Association and participated in a community clean-up event. Lisa attended a workshop on entrepreneurship sponsored by the center and it rekindled her interest in selling Avon and Regal products. She had tried her hand at selling Avon before but had let it go as she felt she did not know enough people to make it a viable business. Now she felt confident in approaching the women at the center and other contacts she had made in the
