How To Write An Annotation Of Fra Pandoulf's Last Duchess

I think you may want to reconsider the wedding between your daughter and the Duke. After my time in his home I’m not entirely certain that he is the right choice. Before the dinner commenced he showed me a painting that he had commissioned of his last Duchess. It was beautifully painted by Fra Pandolf however how he spoke of the Duchess only worried me for the future of your daughter. He was very appreciative of his former wife, imploring me to stare at the painting with him, yet the way he described the painting, “as if she were alive” and “the depth and passion of its earnest glance” made me wonder if he’s over his last Duchess and ready to move and commit to your daughter. He also spoke very highly of himself in relation to his wife describing

The Russian Bride’s Attire is a life-sized oil painting by the Russian artist Konstantin Makovsky that is currently hanging in the Legion of Honor. At 110 x 147 inches, the piece pulls you in; as if you could step right into it and begin helping the ladies prepare the bride for marriage, or maybe bust her out of there. Makovsky is telling a subtle story through the composition and subject of this painting. The amount of emotion he brings with his angles and use of light and color is breath taking. He’s telling the story of a young girl who is set to be married off to the king, although this may sound glamourous, the girl looks unhappy, and no wonder; she’s a teenager preparing for marriage, preparing to leave behind her family and everything…

Alighieri shows hostility towards Filippo Argenti, who was a Black Guelph and Alighieri’s political enemy, through Dante’s diction and reaction. Upon encountering Argenti while crossing the Styx, Dante asks who the sinner is, “But you, who are you, so fallen and so foul?’” (VIII, 35). Alighieri purposely chooses words with demoralizing connotations like fallen, which means degrading and immoral, and foul, which implies grossly offensive in a moral sense, to address his enemy, showing how much he looks down to Argenti. Dante’s reaction to Filippo Argenti marks a sudden departure from his previous sympathy for the damned, poking fun at the sinner, calling not only him a “hell-dog,” but the rest of the Wrathfuls so, “Down!…

Eleanor of Aquitaine was born into one of the wealthiest, most educated, and highly affluent families in Europe during the Mid-Middle Ages. She grew up in Southern France at the Court of Poitiers, which was made famous through Eleanor’s grandfather, William IX of Aquitaine, who is often referred to throughout history as “The Troubadour”, due to the fact that he is known as the founding troubadour. As a young teenager Eleanor inherited the court after the death of her father, making her the “owner in her own right of twice as much land as the King [of England]” (Rosenburg 4). Soon after the death of her father, Eleanor was betrothed to “Louis Florus, heir to the throne”, who soon became the King of France after the death of his father, Louis…

On discussing the topic of women’s roles in China, I think the movie, Mulan, truly identifies what a Chinese woman was about. Women in China were often ignored and treated with little respect. They were often spotted indoors doing house work, while their husband were outside doing all the hard labor. Also, as a woman, there were a lot of expectations of bringing honor to the family that were all mentioned in the film. In my opinion, Mulan is historically accurate when analyzing on the topic of women.…
