As Maria repeatedly ask for bathroom breaks, the supervisor denies her permission, which leads to Maria quitting. The fact that the supervisor had little consideration for the well-being of Maria, strengthened the argument that this culture was male dominated. If this was a feminine culture, Maria’s health would have been taken into consideration to pause her work and allowing her to take a break because according to DeVito, “(in contrast to male dominated societies) women are valued for their modesty, focus on the quality of life, and tenderness.” (P.38) A male dominated society “emphasizes success” (P.38), alluding to the fact that Maria’s supervisor saw her taking multiple breaks as a waste of time for his company due to the fact that every minute is valuable when packaging the
