After reviewing the trauma case study, I believe Maryam demonstrate diagnostic criteria for Posttraumatic Stress. According to Bressert “The disturbance in an acute stress disorder must last for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 4 weeks, and must occur within 4 weeks of the traumatic event.” Therefore, I believe Maryam demonstrate diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress because she was involved in a car accident two months ago and she is still not able to sleep and feels afraid and has nightmares. According to Hunter (2017) “The DSM–5 diagnosis of PTSD is dependent on the following: (a) exposure to a traumatic event, serious injury (b) intrusion symptoms associated with the traumatic event (c) avoidance of stimuli
