I have one tornado experience which has led to my tornado apprehension; this event occurred when I went home for the weekend earlier this semester. I was driving along Route 57. Starting in Champaign, it was a bright and sunny day. When I got closer to Chicago, the sky darkened and I could tell that it was about to start pouring. I could feel the car pull as the winds began to gust. As anyone in Illinois would know, as soon as it starts to rain, traffic starts to pile up and traffic jams can be expected. Unusually, there was not one car within visible sight, although visible range was greatly diminished due to the unrelenting rain; I knew something had to be wrong. Not two minutes later, I received an alert on my phone saying that there was a tornado warning in the area. I decided to pull off of the highway and wait out the intense storm. than anywhere else on Earth. Although, if someone has not lived through this hazard, they may not take the necessary precautions. My sobering experience with this particular natural hazard will forever change how I react to severe weather. If there was ever a tornado warning, I was one to go outside and look. Now, I will make better decisions and seek shelter
