Giovanni Morreti was satisfied with his life. He avoided getting involved in the war between good and evil but when his only friend Ares calls he is unable to refuse. He travels to San Francisco in search of a witch that possess the power to help restores Ares’s nephew Hale’s soul. The last thing he expected to discover was this stubborn witch to be his mate.

Ridge Alder can’t believe what Giovanni is asking of him. Ridge’s powers aren’t that strong and only work on humans. Giovanni convinces him to come with him to Las Vegas to meet with Ares.

Ridge’s feelings and attraction toward Giovanni is driving him crazy. He’s a virgin by choice, wanting to wait for the one and knowing that Giovanni is his mate, he allows Giovanni to seduce him. Ridge soon regrets it because he’s unsure of Giovanni's feelings. Their unwillingness to communicate is pulling them apart.

Ares tells Ridge the power is inside him but something is holding him back.

It takes Giovanni confessing his love to Ridge for Ridge to figure out what they need to do. With the mating ritual complete Ridge’s powers will be stronger and he might be able to save Hale.

Giovanni and Ridge go to visit Hale again but its Hale’s father Lucian that is waiting for them. Lucian is an evil vampire that wants them all dead. In a panic Ridge uses his magic on Lucian. He cures Lucian of the evil infesting his soul. In shock and afraid Lucian disappears.

Ridge and Giovanni vow to help Ares and the warriors of the light any way they can. As long as they have each other they’ll be all
