“Hurry!” 302 yelled and went through the doors.
I dropped the keys! I didn’t know where I left off. When suddenly(T), another guard walked through. He had his laser gun pointed at me. “Run, Kate, Run!” Mr. Jacks screamed as I tried another key. “Leave without me!” 302 suddenly came from nowhere and killed the guard who almost got me. I turned the key and Mr. Jacks door opened. He swarmed out and hugged me. “I thought you were a goner! You shouldn’t have tried to save me!” He scolded me. I welcomed the warm embrace. I missed my father’s hugs. I missed my family’s hugs. I should have listened when my parents told me not to go to the Lacrosse tournament. I should have listened to Mr. Jack when he told me not to go. I should have listened to everyone.

“How can we help?” Mr. Jacks wiped the sweat from his brow.
“Run. Go back inside the force fields. Just get away from here.” 302 sternly said.
“What? Where are you going? What are you going to do?” Immediately(T) I knew what 302 had in mind. It was a suicide mission.
“There is only one person that can do this. And that’s me. You guys wouldn’t make it up the stairs before this blew. Save yourself.” 302 turned to face the power source.
“Mr. Jacks, we can’t leave him!” I begged for him to stay. “302 you can’t do this for us.”
“I have to right the wrong my people have done. It is my mission. Go.”
Mr. Jacks grabbed me and drug me up the stairs as I cried out for 302. When we arrived outside the place was barren. It was starting to get dark; we had to hurry before 302 destroyed the place. There was a force field not far away, so Mr. Jacks and I

As I stared across the bullet-torn battlefield I wondered how I ended up here; hiding behind a crumbling wall, clutching my gun as though it were a lifeline. How the young kid I'd once been now bore a dirty, camouflage patterned uniform. There I was, contemplating my life in the middle of a battle. I shouldn't have been surprised when a hand suddenly shot out in front of my face and smacked me upside the head. It was so unexpected that I nearly stumbled out from behind the rubble and right into the bullet whizzing by.…
