How To Write A Roman Catholic Church Observation

I decided to observe a Roman Catholic Mass service for my fieldwork report. On June 12, 2016 at 9 A.M. I attended the Mass service of the Roman Catholic church at the Mayport Naval Station Chapel in Jacksonville, Florida. I chose to observe this religion because I was interested in observing the differences between the Catholic denomination of Christianity and the denomination of Christianity with which I identify. Attending Mass is the only way in which a devote Catholic can fulfill the commandment to keep the sacred Sabbath day. The traditional Roman Catholic Mass service involves a prayer, scripture reading, hymns, rituals, and a lesson on how to live a devote Catholic life based on the Gospel readings. The Mass service was divided into two separate parts: the reading of the Bible, and the ritual of the Eucharist.
Observation of the Service Upon entering the Mayport Naval Station Chapel for Mass, I was in awe of the beautiful architecture and design of the dwelling. Large arches overlooked the entrance and exit of the chapel. The chapel was illuminated by stain glass windows. Based on the Mass service, it is apparent that the involvement of children is encouraged in the rituals of the church. Despite my lack of participation, the members of the congregation still welcomed me and invited me to come back the following week. In this specific congregation, it is apparent that the majority of the members feel it’s important to welcome visitors. The members of the church all came from many different ethnic and sociocultural backgrounds. The church was very diverse and seemed accepting of people from all backgrounds. The congregation had people of all ages worshipping and appeared to have many young people and young families
