How To Write A Reflective Essay About My Writing Class

During this the first semester of Comp. 111, I have grown tremendously as a writer. I remember when I was first signing up for this class I was extremely nervous. I had no idea how difficult the class would be and how it would affect my overall love of writing. I love to write but, the rules of writing take the complete joy out of it. I’ll usually be writing and it would seem perfect to me. But when I would have somebody else look over it, they would tell me the flaws to the writing and help me fix it. However, the problem with this is that once the person helps me fix my writing, the meaning behind it didn’t seem to come from my heart and it looks as though a robot wrote it. Fortunately for me, this problem was resolved when I took Dual Enrollment this year. This class has taught me so much about parallel structure which has helped smooth out my writing. Know, I can write confidently knowing that my writing is generic and has a proper flow to it. Another concept in which I improved on …show more content…
I love writing but sometimes I can’t write a whole lot about a specific topic if it's not that interesting to me. I remember at the beginning of the year I wrote a Personal Narrative essay which was one of my longest and most meaningful essay I've written in a while. The reason for this is because the topic was so interesting and thoughts just couldn’t stop popping in my head. However, I do plan on fixing this problem by researching the topic more extensively before writing an essay or response. To me, this is a very good solution because if I have more knowledge about the topic, the more i will write. I have learned a lot from the first semester of Dual Enrollment. Although I have gained a lot of knowledge within the last couple of months, there is still a lot I need to improve upon before entering college. It’s like what Joseph Heller used to say “ every good writer I know has trouble

Writing has always been one of the most difficult skills that I have been learning through my college career, but it has also been the most important skill because unlike other skills writing affects my works across all courses or subjects. Writing has also helped me to get in to UMD, receive scholarships, and be accepted in research programs. Therefore, all the effort that I have made to improve my writing skill is worth it. From experience, writing is not like other skills that one can learn overnight, for me, writing skill is very slow progress and requires a lot of writing and reading; this is what I got from this class. In this class, my writing has advanced because I am reading more, practicing more, and writing more.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

You would think a writing class would only teach you how to write papers, but not until college did I realize the complexity of a writing class where other than writing it integrates methods of research, reflection, and reading for instance I never realized the complexity of reading and what to simply look for when reading text. In high school the idea of talking to the text where writing notes on the side while reading normally gave me enough information to get by. Thus never grasping the complexity of the text because the means were unknown. It was not until I was introduced to the rhetorical situation diagram in 1020. Prior to the rhetorical situation diagram we were given an assignment where we were to interpret three different viewpoints central around a single argument about oil.…

To me, writing is just ok, nothing special. It definitely isn’t something I get excited about. My first formal writing class was in 6th grade, where we followed The Institute for Excellence in Writing’s curriculum. My fellow classmates and I mainly wrote short, 1-3 paragraph reports on various historical topics. I did well in these classes, I just never really enjoyed the process of writing.…

I find this part hard because there is times where I don’t know what I need to change to make the writing better. Usually after the first draft I get stuck and don’t know how what I have to change or add. Something that I do like is to get feedback from other people. Some people would argue that getting feedback from others is not too good but most of the time it works for me. The reason why I like others to read my writing is because it helps me catch some errors in my writing.…

Dust accumulated on this object, as it had sat for a couple years in a bookcase tucked away from sight. As the remnants of dust were blown and then wiped off its cover, it began to be reread again. My experience with taking this English Composition one course was like dusting off a dirty book, it meant having to uncover this book of knowledge after being out of school for two years. This book represented in my head, my mind after being out of school for some time, you experience day to day life and slowly forget about writing in general unless it’s basic and needed for work. Dusting off my hypothetical book was learning to annotate again, learning to be a writer and a student again and to see with both eyes open my mistakes.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

Having been with my current organization for 18 years, you can imagine the amount of training classes I have attended, I never gave any thought to how much goes into the planning. I wrote my lesson plan on a topic that I feel I am very informed on but while I was working on the lesson plan, I had to go back several time because I realized that I left out this step or I should say that at this point. A complete and full lesson plan is pinnacle to the new hires success.…
