This semester I had the privilege to work as an intern at Eide Bailly, LLP. I worked in the audit department. I worked with assisting the full-time audit staff on basic tasks. These tasks could vary from auditor to auditor. It was anything from editing documentation to testing various sections of a client’s financial statements. It was not uncommon to work for several different auditors in the same day or the same week. I started my time with Eide Bailly on July 11th and I worked four days a week until this semester started. Ever since the beginning of the semester, I traveled from Shawnee to Oklahoma City three days a week. I would spend about 20 hours each week at work. I went into this internship with no idea what to expect. I would even admit that I was nervous that I would not possess the skills to perform my job adequately. I found out that everyone comes in with these nerves. I also learned that most people learn as they go and most people learn something new every day while working. It was comforting that full-time auditors had to learn how to do their jobs and did not have it all together right out of college. I had enough knowledge of accounting to be able to perform my job. The skills I was lacking I was taught during my internship. …show more content…
It was the first time that I could apply accounting skills in a real-life setting. I got to use my skills for a real purpose. I was contributing to work on a real client. The work I was doing felt important to the success of the firm. I had positive contributions to the audit process. One of the best educational takeaways for me is the foundation I have established going to my audit course next semester. I will understand how each of the issues in that class fit into real audit work. I may have already performed some of the procedures that we will learn about next

As a student in the BUSI 440 course I have found myself really enjoying and looking forward to the assignments. During the first weeks of the course, we were assigned to read over two articles explaining why internships matter. While reading such articles I noticed how much I agreed with the information, in “The Positive Implications of Internships on Early Career Outcomes” the author Nathalie Saltikoff brought up the point that students graduating with internship experiences in general are more likely than students without experiences to find employment. This statement made me realize how important internships truly are. If I look back at my past internship and work experiences, I notice that I was able to expand my networking circle and improve my thought process.…

I’ve been shown with this experience how important it is for me to keep working at my people skill, that my ability to efficiently communicate is the bases for success with a sales job like selling flooring or lighting fixtures. This internship has helped me grow as a person and gain confidence. My favorite part of my internship was when Cozette and I were working with a client on a new construction job. The client brought in a completed floor plan, and came to select finishes and cabinetry. As we were walking through the floor plan we discussed the layouts of the bathrooms and kitchen.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

The sanitary condition over there is horrible. I saw garbage everywhere and there weren’t any safety way to dispose the garbage other than to burn them, which also wasn’t environmental friendly. Having a child’s mentality, I chose this job because I wanted to make everywhere clean and tidy.…

The content of your reflective journal entries is flexible in that there are many ways for you to show that you have pondered and thought critically about the reading. One approach is to base your entry on one or a couple of the Discussion Guide questions that correspond to the readings. Other approaches that may be applicable are: • If the reading reports an empirical study, then you could comment on methodological issues such as aspects of the study that might impact its internal validity, interpretability, or external validity in either positive or negative ways. You could identify the study’s strengths or weaknesses, ways to improve it, or avenues for future research that build upon this study. • Another way to reflect upon a reading…

My GPA is not a valid indicator of the amount of work that I have put in through each semester. In my first year of taking business classes, I had been pledging for a business fraternity for 10 weeks and the workload was equivalent to an internship which hindered my time in focusing directly on school. My second year of college, I had taken up the responsibility of paying for my own living expenses, including rent and meals. To pay for that, I began working as an intern at an accounting firm. As rewarding as it is to be able to learn skills ahead of time, I wanted to further my experience by taking accounting practicum.…

During my time at Optimist International, I would say the management was overall pretty effective. The management style that I witnessed the most and saw in other departments of the organization was delegation of tasks. I was lucky enough to sit in on a staff meeting roughly half way through my internship. It was led by the executive director of the company, but it was less of a demand on things that needed to be done, and more of a conversation between each employee and the status of their assigned tasks. The CEO usually had his things he did in his office, but would occasionally come and visit each department and chat about what the weekly tasks were and how everything was going.…

In this essay I will evaluate the benefits and explore some possible negatives that work experience can have on an individual’s future career in order to decide…
