How To Write A Personal Reflective Essay To Pacific Lutheran University

As I was growing up, my father was in the military and this meant that we were constantly moving. I moved a total of seven times; five different states that were each hundreds to even thousands of miles apart and two different countries. I travel around the world and lived the sorrowful Manifest Destiny of “sea to shining sea”. Although it may seem odd to bring up my military upbringing, I feel as though it is a significant part of me, a piece of the puzzle to my life. Within itself is a vibrant culture of its own and within that culture, is diversity, justice and sustainability. I learned those three elements very well as a product of the military and I feel as though I can share and connect the elements on Pacific Lutheran University’s campus. Diversity is the respect and tolerance of various differences in a population. With my father being in the military, I learned of various cultures with firsthand experiences. It is almost foreign to me that people never met someone of Islamic faith before or that people are afraid of people based solely on the color of their skin. I also plan on becoming involved in community work that enlightens me on the many people within our own community. I also plan on stepping out of my typical bystander persona and actually fight for those who need my help. A community is a child of its members and I plan on doing the best I can for Pacific Lutheran University.
