The biggest day of my life so far was when my parents decided to move to America. Even though I was young, it was very difficult for me to make the transition. I knew that something big was coming my way when I stepped in this country. Starting from elementary to middle school and now high school I have learned how to live through the hardest situation and make myself better. There have been many situations where I felt very degraded and low but these situations only made me stronger. Of many things, one of the hardest things that I had to change was my language. Language was a huge barrier for me as my first language in India was Hindi. When I was in India I barely spoke English but, when I entered America all I could hear people speak was English. For a long period of time, I was scared and never did anything by myself. I always made sure that I was with someone whenever I would go out, so I wouldn't have to interact with other people. This changed very quickly when I started going to school, it was like I was put in with hundred of different types kids who were good at everything. Getting good grades was the main concern I never really had good grades growing up because I always struggled in English and reading specifically .It was really frustrating because I knew I wasn't getting a grade to my full potential. I started practicing my grammar skills and reading books everywhere. For instance, I read during recess, train, bus really anywhere I had free time you saw me reading a book. Doing this drastically improved my grades and when my parents came to the parent-teacher meetings all I got was good compliments on how I improved a lot and was doing fantastic in school. I realized what really motivated me was all the hardships because they truly made up who I was and what I am capable
