How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving

Decent Essays
Not everyone enjoys moving, especially if it’s far from someone you’re close to, but it could have its advantages. For me moving was constant but the hardest was moving from my grandmother’s house. I had grown closer than ever to her and my cousins. It was devastating for the first few months, leaving the calm peaceful country to live in a noisy city. I had problems sleeping and I often worried of what my grandmother felt about or what she thinks of me now. It was upsetting to see my grandmother sad and angry about our sudden action. That night she gave me a bit of the cold shoulder and continued her work when I was bidding her goodbye, along with my siblings. My oldest cousin didn’t take it so well, she had also ignored me when I said goodbye.

In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the family endures a lot of hardships, one of which includes moving from place to place. They hardly stayed anywhere for more than a week, and moved more times than they could count to avoid the law and payments. Jeannette usually had a hard time making friends, so it would have been difficult for her. They eventually stopped the constant relocating, and settled in Welch, West Virginia. Moving was always one of the hardest things for me to do as I was growing up.…

“Better, indeed, for a man’s own good -- that he should sit down where he was born,” colorful poet, Joaquin Miller, advocates in his poem, Pace Implora. In this poem, Joaquin Miller highlights aspects of a simple life, that all establish routine, which he insists is the key to a better life. Nonetheless, staying in one place and keeping simplicity is not better than traveling the world for many reasons. First, leaving your hometown, gives you the opportunity to meet new people. Meeting new may push you out of your comfort zone and will open you to diversity.…

A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

Things you experience are one of the major factors in who you become. I am 27 years old and have moved 26 times in my life. This has made me extremely resilient to a variety of situations, especially change. I generally welcome chaos and get bored extremely easily with repetition because I am so used to things changing frequently. Most of the places I moved to were similar enough culture wise, but some of the places, like Chattanooga, TN, were very different from what I was used to.…

Nobody enjoys moving, I know I don’t, it’s so difficult, not just physically but emotionally. When my husband Adan and I moved to Mozambique, I was so excited but moving away from my friends and family was so difficult, until this day my heart feels like it has been beaten and burned-out. I’ve had to adjust to the new ways of life and accept it. I love the atmosphere in Mozambique; the people are so warm and welcoming. From our new home, we could see the beautiful beach.…

When people realize they have to leave everything they have known, loved and cared for twelve thousand miles away from them the impact is so great. Some people think it was easy for me to move from Australia to America, but really it is difficult to forget about. When someone moves from one house to another they don’t usually leave the country where their family, friends and memories are. As for me, in 2011 my family and I traveled to the United States to look for a house to live in. My dad was offered a new job but the catch was that we had to move.…

Relocating is one of the most stressful experiences that a person may go through in their lifetime. This is because moving requires you to say farewell to things that are familiar and then adjust to a new life in your new neighborhood or country. Bidding your friends, co-workers and family goodbye is a sad event, and facing your new surroundings without the comfort of familiar things is daunting. In addition to the stress that comes with saying goodbye and adjusting, relocating to another place may also be expensive, especially if you are moving to another country.…
