How To Write A Narrative Essay About My Clinical Experience

11-13:
My expectations for the first day of clinicals was to walk in and immediately hit the ground running. I didn’t expect to start off with the most tedious assignments but I did expect us to have a variety of smaller assignments. Going into clinicals I was definitely nervous that I would mess up. I was also prepared to encounter situations that I would classify “Mrs. Edwards situation.” I was surprised near the end of our day that we really didn’t have much else to do. I know other days we’ll be scrambling to get everything done in four and a half hours but I wish I could’ve possibly done more today. I felt like my interactions with the patients went very well. The only difficulty I seem to be having is understanding some of the residents.

My day started a bit off, I had an emergency that morning that made me run a bit late for clinical. This made me miss some important information such as, how nurses in NCBH hand over to the next shift, but aside that, I had a wonderful day working with nurse Mrs. Osei. She welcomes me by introducing herself, which I responded likewise. She took me with her to do her morning rounds and administer medication to her assigned patient. After we were done with her morning medication, I went to one of her patient whom I was assign to by Mrs. Natasha to perform mini mental survey and general assessment on the patients.…

I have experienced overwhelming and exciting moments and experiences throughout my university career. Some of them were encouraging and some of these experiences were intimidating. I have learned a tremendous amount of information throughout my classes, although some of it seemed silly and wasteful, a lot of it will be carried on as I move on as a nursing professional. Each semester felt like putting pieces of a huge puzzle together, and as time went on the information seemed to fit together a little better. There is still a lot to learn, but most important of all I have learned that nursing is constantly changing and evolving, so there is always going to be something new to learn or to develop.…

Ever since I was a little girl the hospital was my least favorite place. The hospital smell and the stark decor was unappealing, I have always had an aversion to needles, and at a young age, I had a number of traumatic medical experiences within my family. When I was first born I had trouble breathing as a result of a hole in my heart; when I was 3 my mom’s car was struck by an 18-wheeler and she was in a coma for a number of days; I contracted a respiratory infection and had to be hospitalized with an IV and a paddle taped to my arm; I watched my great-grandma Rosie pass away in the hospital when I was 5; when I was 9, I went to get my blood drawn at the hospital, and a scary nurse with long, pointy, red nails held me down while she searched for the vein to draw the blood; and there was a fateful trip…
