A New Beginning Summer is finally here! I’m lurking through my garage looking for something to do. I found a bucket of all different kinds of balls. There was anything for footballs to bouncy balls. I took a bat and started to hit anything I picked up out of the bucket. I didn’t know that this would lead to a new life.
A year later when I was 4 I was allowed to play t-ball and soccer. I really found the love and passion for baseball at this young age. Instead of practicing many sports with my dad, now we mainly practiced baseball. We did many different drills. He would pitch me many different kinds of balls. Anything from bouncy balls to plastic footballs, and I would learn to hit anything.I always used a plastic yellow Little Tikes bat that

In this drill my dad would stand about two feet away from me and would throw the ball to either one of my sides and i would have to quickly react to get it. I also would pitch to him a lot and I hoped to be a pitcher. My favorite game was called golden glove. My brother Mark and my sister Cecilia would play this game with me. My dad would hit us a ball and if you missed it or dropped it you would lose a life. You got three lives and whoever still had lives leftover when the others were out, they won. All of these drills really help me improve my talent.
It wasn’t until I was nine when kids started to pitch and you were allowed to go for more than a single. My nine year old team was the Pirates and I was number 11. My coach was my best friend's dad and I had a lot of others friends on the team. In our first game we were facing the Angles. I was the starting pitcher for our team and I was batting third. In the first half inning I pitched great with three strikeouts. In the second half of that inning I was up to bat. I used a grey and orange Easton Typhoon bat that was 29 inches and 18 ounces. I was really ready to bomb a home run. My first swing was a big miss. Then I realized I needed to keep my head down. When I hit the

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

For as long as I can remember, I have always played as the left fielder in baseball. Playing this position was always easy for me. When I estimated the trajectory of a ball speeding through the air, I could always run to where I thought it would be and catch it. It was as if the outfield became my home, I was comfortable there. One day during practice, my coach told me to try and play as the first baseman.…

Life was pretty great, I had two brothers, Jake and Will, as you guys know, and of course my parents Mary Alyce and Bobby. I went to Wolf Hill school which is where I met my friends, including Vaughn. When I was younger I would switch off who I would play with most, I started doing things with Jake and he taught me lots of stuff. Then when Jake started hanging out with his older friends I was forced to hangout with Will, which meant I had to teach him things that would help him, so I did, just like Jake.…

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

But I have always had this certain drive in me to go through struggles and eventually come out on top among other competitors. Sophomore year was supposed to be my year, my year to be the starting catcher on the varsity baseball team at Mary Persons High School. The baseball coach even said that in his own words.…

I said in a bratty voice. I stepped out of the imaginary batter's box took a few deep breaths, tightened my batting gloves, and then stepped back into the batter’s box, thinking about finally getting a good cut. Nick threw another ball perfectly placed down the plate. I started my cut keeping my head down swinging at just the right speed, I made perfect contact and the ball when flying straight back to the end of the cage, or at least it would of!…

While growing up, sports have always been a big part of my life. At the age of only six years old, my parents first signed me up for coach pitch softball. Little did they know that I was going to fall in love with the game and that they were going to have to spend countless hours at softball fields during the spring each year watching me play. Being so young when I first started playing, winning and losing did not matter at all. As long as I got to throw, hit, and catch the ball, I was happy.…

Game after game I would come home feeling dejected after not getting a hit, and the slump would ruin my confidence.
