First goal of mid-term reflection report was to improve my time management skills. I succeeded in the first step, which was to start planning my time on Google schedules. I learned how to use it and I have seen the progress in my time management. I knew how my time is divided and what should I necessarily to at certain times during the day. Early upon entering the College of Social Work I became interested in the homeless population. In my junior year, I took the time to volunteer with the Renaissance Community Center, an organization that provides various services to Homeless individuals in Tallahassee. Volunteering here taught me about people and the effects of interpersonal communication, how the availability of services can aid people during personal crisis, and the limitations of resources and access on a vulnerable population such as the homeless. This experience is valuable to me as it increased my interest in the population and my awareness of how it intersects with values and the purpose of social work.…

The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

One of the most important thing I have learned in this course that has positively affected my confidence in my writing skills is the concept of writing a “shitty first draft”. In my midterm self-assessment, I discussed how I thought I was among one of the unlucky ones that was not blessed with natural writing skills. However, through class discussions, I’ve learned that one of the most important competent of professional writing is the need for constant revision. Contrary to popular believe, writing does not come easy to anyone. In order to successfully produce professional writing, it is important that one plan, draft, revise, and edit his or her work.…

Twelve weeks later, my first college writing course completed, and to my pleasant almost surprise, I feel as though I have bettered myself in writing. If you look back at my Mid-term Reflection, walking into my first undergraduate writing class was a little unsettling. Was I going to be totally on top of everything the professor threw at us students or was I going to be completely unprepared? Rhetoric and Composition 103 was neither one nor the other, but a writing class that took what I knew and what I did not to create a well-rounded writer. By the time Mid-term’s rolled around, I could already see a change in my skills as a writer.…

For my Self-Change Project I decided to work on changing my very bad habit of procrastinating, by practicing better time management skills. Procrastinating is something that I have done as far back as I can remember. I always waited until the last minute in everything I did from school projects, helping others, to even leaving out of the house. Everything I did was at the very last minute, to include starting school and signing up for classes. If I would have waited another semester to start school, I would have lost out on some of my military GI Bill benefits.…

Walking into the first day of class and learning more about what the final project would entail, I did feel slightly better but still scared that it was going to be too overwhelming and hard to complete by myself. Luckily, the individual meetings and emails with my professor made everything much more clear and inviting. These final project meetings were very helpful in terms of receiving constructive criticism and then going back home to make changes to the paper.…

The strength I chose for this experiential activity was gratitude. I decided on this strength because I believe that when you focus on the all of the things you have in life as opposed to all of the things you don't have your perception of the world around you becomes much more positive and you become aware of many opportunities throughout the day that you would not have noticed had you been thinking of things in a more negative light. When it came to using my signature strength of gratitude differently everyday some days I would closing my eyes and count each breath I took and began to think about all of the people in my life that support me such as family and friends, and on other days when I noticed that I would get into a cycle of negative…
