I am glad to have finally heard from you, hearing of you through mothers letters wasn’t enough and Im sure she has kept you from many of the harsh details of my writing. Sincerest apologies for my delay in response as I seldom have the time to sit and write. I hope that Liz is doing well and winning her fight against her leukimia, send her my best wishes. Oh how I pray for just one night with out them spoiling our food supplies and worstening the already unbearable stench. I wish I could tell you I was doing well, but sadly I cannot. The conditions in the trenches have only gotten worse with lice infestations, I haven’t been privalleged with a shower in weeks, and most of the men I came and trained with are unnamed soldiers dead in no mans land. I have grown so lonely, for the men who I spend my days with are just as miserable as I am. It is as if I am living among shadows. I am overjoyed to hear of Liz’s recovery and I send her good luck. It isn’t all bad news though, the weather is getting warmer and the mud of the trenches is drying a bit making it a little more bearable for us to live in them.
