Did you know hurricanes have an eye? Well, it's not like our human type of eye, the eye of a hurricane is the most calmest part of it, unlike the outside part of a hurricane. A hurricane is a violent storm that happens mostly in warm areas, like near the equator according to “www.kids.nationalgeographic.com”. Winds coming together force air upward, and winds flowing outward above the storm allows the air below it to rise into the sky. Light winds outside of the hurricane steer it and let it grow, therefore, the force of the hurricane is much more stronger, and more likely to cause lots of damage. However, hurricanes also move far inland dumping many inches of rain, which causes lots of wind damage too. Although wind and warm water is an important cause of a hurricane, the Coriolis Force is the most important part. The “Coriolis Force”, is a force that creates the spin of the hurricane. Without the force, a hurricane can not occur. For example hurricane Katrina had winds that blowed up to 175 mph! It was amazingly fast according to www.livescience.com.
Enough about how they are caused,here are a few effects of a hurricane or what happens because of them. Hurricanes are deadly and cause lots of horrible things. One of the most common ones is death. For example hurricane Katrina nearly killed 1,800 people because of the floods and winds! People were lucky enough to survive but more than half that survived were injured. People in New Orleans were not happy because their loved ones died. Another common effect is damages. Damages usually happen to buildings and cars.
