The first thing that hit me was just the atmosphere of the restaurant and the high class setting that we all shared for the next two hours. Realizing that I was working with a high class amount of people during the dinner, I decided to join in on the quality and present myself just as professionally as the rest and use more of a qualitative concept. While looking around the restaurant and the dinner table, I was surprised to notice that there had been no people of color.My observations indicated that the majority of the dinner table and resturant in general was white, and that was interesting to me. Before my questioning could even begin, I started to notice how loud and aggressive the conversational dinner setting had been, and how different it was from my own personal family dinner setting back at home. Questions about childhood memories, stories, relationships, moments, and personal life for the interviewee`s helped me to dig deep into the culture during this active interview. Eye contact and posture was the first eye opener when starting the interview. For the most part, the personalities and high class traits that the parents acquire today had come from a long childhood of hard work, professionalism, and respect. Each parent had lived in an upper class household for the majority of their childhood, taking in valuable lessons throughout their time growing up learning how to be well suited, and dedicated to whatever they had to do to maintain the status they had as a kid and still acquire to this day. Traditionally for the father it was necessary to always present himself with a strong/classy image so that he could achieve the respect of his family and class status, explaining how well dressed and polite he was at the dinner table/while answering my questions. For the mother, sort of the same idea, to maintain respect and image by presenting herself in a way that fits her family and cultural norms. The Mother and Father both were personally proud of how well they raised their kids, and how their children still hold the traditional norms that each of the parents had grown up with.
