How To Write A Class Observation Paper

Week five was crazy, tired, and necessary for my academic development. This week, I observed Miss. Merrick’s class three times. On September, 22, I had a very reflective day. On my first period, we reviewed the unit assessment test with my Pre-AP students. Almost all the grades were favorable, and their opened responses amazed me. I was surprised when the students argued with Miss. Merrick about why they believed they answers were correct. The had great arguments; Miss Merrick with a kind attitude explained the right answer, and they accepted. I was closed to one of the most intelligent boys of the class. He was upset and started crying. I asked him what happened, but he did not want to respond. I stayed by his side, and I saw his test; he

It seems like a decade ago that we began our time with Mr. McGee in Room 303. As we first took our spots next to our peers and friends, we were all filled with a sense of apprehension about what was to come. We had all heard the horror stories about the hours and hours of homework required to earn a passing grade in this class. Our teacher was hailed a legend in our small rural high school and he was well liked and respected. He also had a reputation for being incredibly smart and pushing his students beyond what they had previously known.…

Mrs. Shewmaker my 11th grade English teacher mainly focused her teaching on multiple choice, which is the most challenging thing students had on the AP test. Taking a multiple choice every Monday seemed like a lot and it was because I would do good on some and not so good on others. The multiple choice would focus on grammar and overall questions that were based on the prompt. Every time we were given a new multiple choice worksheet I would get confused on what the question was asking. These multiple choice practice lowered my grade and made me feel like it was futile doing this because when it comes time to take the AP test the outcome of my score would reflect my grades.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

Class Observation The observation and interview I conducted was for a class at Santa Ana College (SAC) titled “Counseling 116: Career/Life Planning and Personal Exploration”. This class meets twice a week for an hour and 45 minutes. The day that I observed, the professor was focusing on helping the students write their career research papers by engaging in a discussion about skills. He described to students that skills were specific attributes, personal qualities and talents that people bring to their job.…

In room 303, Mr. McGee loves to keep you busy, challenging you to every extent. This year, I have been successful in many ways, and also learned more about myself in which way I learn, how I study, and how I attain knowledge. Every Tuesday or Wednesday of every week, we had what was called a “packet” due. Which contained numerous annotations followed by an essay, held together with a cover sheet. I turned in every packet, the day it was due, start to finish.…

The last few weeks of the semester were the most interesting for my class, and in many ways the most active. I learned more about my students in the last few classes than I had the rest of the semester. While both my instructor and I agree that the class was one of the most unenthusiastic we had ever been a part of, we are both satisfied that the students earned the grades they received, and that we helped them along their career path. We encountered two major problems in the class this semester. First, and perhaps the one more easily fixable, a communication problem.…

All the students were interested in the review and very adamant about understanding and correcting any mistakes. Several times students asked if Instructor Hanson could repeat a reading passage or if another example could be given to better explain. From my observations these students in this class had a sense of ownership to learn English and to pass their proficiency exam, which I can understand in order to keep their scholarships and continue on with their education. I think due to the student’s engagement and classroom atmosphere there was a lot of student collaborative learning, either in teams competing against each other or working together in partners to complete a problem. I was very exciting to see them work and…
