This social worker, Dick and Mike met on time for a 1-hour session. For the first half of the hour this social worker and Dick met without Mike present to talk about the meeting Dick had with the school psychologist. Mike was suspended two days before break, Dick expressed his frustration about not being able to “make” Mike improve in school. This social worker explained to Dick that staying drug free, decreasing his own angry responses, and being consistent with checking and praising Mike on chores are all areas he could control that can have an impact on Mike’s functioning in school.
