The Crucible is set in Salem Massachusetts 1962 a man a reverend Parris is sitting beside his unresponsive daughters bed he waits for Witch expert Reverend Hale to show up the night before Reverend Paris had caught his daughter Betty his niece Abigail his slave Tituba Mary Warren practicing witchcraft in the forest.

Reverend Parris is convinced by Thomas and Ann Putnam to come downstairs to say a prayer Abigail is in the room with Betty when John Proctor comes in. Abigail had been a housekeeper for John Proctor and his wife Elizabeth Abigail had an affair with John Proctor and figured that she could be with him if she killed Elizabeth using witchcraft John tells Abigail to leave Elizabeth alone and to forget about him
