Just imagine you just told your parents that you want a tattoo. They would say things like, “it will hurt” or “it will look ugly when you get older,” or maybe “it says in the Bible not to get one”. Well, they are appealing to your fears to make you think twice about your decision. The best way to appeal to someone’s fears is warning people not to do things or they would have to face the conscience. Appeals to fear are to persuade people to think and change their perspective on life. For example, “Armando has changed his life around and successful in school” (“Corcoran”). The program made Armando open his eyes to bigger things, it made him realize that wasn’t the life style he wanted. He decided to make a better path; he cleaned up and helps his mom around the house. Another Example “For two hours, the inmates gave the 17 teenager offenders an unvarnished glimpse into prison life, “(Feinstein 3-5). People go through life having to make decisions some not so good; with a little push they can change that bad decision around to good. For example, “Elijah turned his life around, he quit drugs and wants to join the Marines,” (“Corcoran”). Not all people are always bad they could have been brought up the wrong way, that doesn’t me they can’t be scared into changing. Another example, “the wrath of God burns against them, their damnation does not slumber,” (Edwards 18-19). Edwards is trying to persuade unconverted men to trust into Jesus by appealing ones fears to it. Therefore people may make bad choices; they can as well as find the will in fear to change it
