It was a normal Saturday afternoon, I was playing in the sandbox with my brother, Tommy. We had a dull crimson shovel, which was rusty from all the countless days it has been left outside. The sand was damp, from the storm the previous night. We took several breaks, as we wanted to dig the deepest hole that we could. Several feet down, we noticed a luminous glare. We thought we found treasure and we ran to get a camera. We finally dug out a deep enough enough the pull out the amulet. The amulet was a shiny piece of jewelry, about the size of a baseball. It had a intricate details all over. In the middle, there was goat, which made us laugh a little. We noticed that the weather outside was getting more violent, as rain poured everywhere. …show more content…
We had to continue and not stop if we had any chance to survive. In the distance, we saw a dark colored road, with nobody to be seen. Slowly, walked towards the tree line, while the wet brush soaked our clothing. I decided to continue ahead into the road, making sure it was safe. Lucky enough, I found an abandoned gas station, just waiting to be looted. We recharged and stuffed our pockets with as much water and food that they could hold. We decided then, that the best course of action was to continue walking north on road behind the gas station. We could see a faint smoke in the distance as more and more buildings appeared. The smell of wet pavement filled our noses. Our hair was soaked with as much water as all the oceans combined. In the distance, there was a white building, presumably the town hall. “This is a pretty cool place, if only there was more humans and less goats.” I jokingly. “Not funny, we should head over there” Tommy responded, pointing towards a huge white building, which was the town …show more content…
I scream at the top of my lungs at Tommy to give me the amulet. The goats closed in on us, step by step. Suddenly, they stopped and started to circle us. “Now! Hurry, Tommy!” I screamed. Instantly, Tommy threw a perfect pass to me and I slid to the pedestal. Looking over my shoulder, I saw the goats sprinting directly at me. I place the amulet at the pedestal. Suddenly, the goats disappear into the air, leaving no trace of existence. I run over to Tommy and give him a hug, we did it. We look outside and we see humans, walking all around like nothing even happened. The burning building was no longer burning and there was cars all

Playing sports has always been my passion, I love everything about it. But one thing has always stood in my way; my size. I’ve never been the tallest person in a crowd and most of the time I am one of the shortest people in the room. I never imagined that this could hold me back from something that I love so much and could possibly make my dreams of playing collegiate softball unreachable. I first began playing softball at only five years old.…

There’s a cynical ridiculousness in the low-key “The Treasure”, the fourth fictional feature from Corneliu Porumboiu, author of “12:08 East of Bucharest” and “Police, Adjective”. I confess I expected more from the Romanian director/screenwriter, especially if we take into account the more valuable cinematic treasures mentioned above. All the features that characterize Mr. Porumboiu’s directorial approach can be found in his new deadpan comedy, which starts in a curious way, becoming overdetailed in its midsection, only to resuscitate in its laughable final part. Costi (Cuzin Toma) is a caring father, despite arriving late at school to pick up his son, Alin (played by Cuzin’s real-life son, Nicodim), a Peter Pan enthusiast who’s often beaten up by another kid.…

Don’t drink the kool aid "Make sure you stay away from the abandoned building," they said. I should have listened. Sixty miles per hour is the speed at which the average softball player throws the ball; so I guess you could say I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I believe I was exactly where I was supposed to be. You know how some people say there was a certain moment that changed their life completely? Well, this was that moment for me, and it all was caused by a miscommunication. Miscommunications happen all of the time, but with a softball that isn't actually soft, and someone standing only 30 feet away from you; well you can already see the implications. At the time, I didn't see what was going to unfold, but I had a bad feeling about what was to come.…
