I chose to do my essay on this story because peer pressure is so common in today's society especially through the lives of teenagers and young adults. When you talk to a young middle schooler who is going into highschool for the first time, that little pep talk of advice always has a little bit of wisdom based on peer pressure. It doesn’t take a genius to know that peer pressure happens very frequently. Whether it’s to drink alcohol, do any types of drugs, break rules that you usually wouldn’t break, maybe even a female being pressured into sexual activity without really wanting to. A person will get drunk or get high just because the people all around him/her will be made fun of if they don’t also participate. A young girl could be pressured into losing her virginity just to make a guy happy. Given that not everyone actually falls into doing something just because they’re young or in the environment of peer pressure for that matter . If you’re someone who’s been peer pressured into something you didn’t want, it’s not entirely your fault. Our brain’s cognitive thinking has the sensation that ‘the rewards will outweigh the risks’. It’s that anxiety feeling that makes the deciding factor between doing something you might not usually be comfortable with. Suddenly at that moment when the world is flashing by you so fast to make a choice, your brain has those thoughts like, “ I know my parents told me not to do drugs and i’ve never smoked weed before but everyone else is doing it so it can’t be that bad,
