Have you ever wondered how you are going to survive junior high? It may seem more different and intense than elementary school is. Though you have a right to be scared, the transition between the grades goes smoothly and easily. You get a lot more responsibility, and many more opportunities. You have a lot more classes and teachers, and get to make influential decisions. There are three main points to Jr. High: academics, personal responsibility, and social activities.
Academics are super important in junior high. One significant thing I recommend is studying. Yes, you have studied before, but in junior high, you have to study harder and longer, and be able to retain much more information. Your grades will reflect the amount of studying you do. Your grades are up to you, and your teachers aren’t going to hold your hand anymore. If you are struggling, you can talk to your teachers to see if you should transfer to PLP, or power learning program. If math is where you have trouble, Mr. Nelson opens up his room at 8:00 until 8:30, so you can go in and ask his for help on your homework from the night before. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, it could really help you improve in the future. It is your personal responsibility to maintain your grades, not your parents or teachers. Another responsibility of yours is to stay out of trouble. Don’t go looking for fights, or think that you can break the rules just because you are in junior high now, and by doing so you will just land yourself a detention. My last advice on personal responsibility is to always stay organized. Organization plays a bigger part in your life than you think. Always file your papers, keep your locker and backpack neat, and your workspace
