New York City, the City That Never Sleeps, the Big Apple, the Capital of the World, or Gotham City. Gotham City, at least for me, has more than one meaning. Taking the subway without a defined destination can be exciting, especially with good company. Considering that my friends and I had quite an eventful subway ride, I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of things the subway has been a witness of or will never be a witness of. The subway is full of ghosts, ghosts of the things that could have been, ghosts of the friendships that could have been, ghosts of the lovers that could have met.

Her style really stood out to me and I always think it is a nice gesture when a girl compliments another, in this world where girls feel like it is a competition and go out of their way to pull each other down. I let out a simple “I really like your outfit,” which was enough to start a conversation with stranger number two. It is crazy how much you can get to know about a person in so little time, she told me she has a fashion blog and she was on her way to an interview with a fashion magazine. I also shared that I am an NYU student starting my first year of college, she proceeded to show me her blog and she said if I ever needed fashion advice, I should go to her page, find her email address and email her starting with the sentence “Hey! It’s the girl you met at the subway the other day…” and then she left. She got off the train at the 6th stop and as she walked away so did every chance of getting to be more than five-minute friends. Later on, I realized I had completely forgotten the name of her blog, so now everything she would ever be to me is another stranger I met on the
