Ever bought a pair of shoes that fit perfectly in the store, but left your feet aching affter wearing them around for a day? It could be due to the time of day you bought your shoes. Shoe shopping can be frustrating, but the best time of day to shop for shoes late in the afternoon or evening. Sound crazy? It's not. This is because after walking around all day your feet will swell. Some feet only swell a little bit, while other's feet can swell a half shoe size larger! I know this is true all too well. My freshman year in high school I ran for my Cross Country team. I went out first thing in the morning to buy running shoes. It was the worst thing I could've done. I did a test run up and down the aisles and jumped up and down in place. The shoes felt great in the store and I left happy. …show more content…
At first I thought my feet were just sore from all the running since it wasn't something I was normally doing. However, within a week I had two large blisters on the bottoms of my arches. If you're a runner you know that a blister is never a good thing! I started asking around the team if anyone else was having problems with their shoes and spoke with the coach. He had informed me that people's feet swell just from walking around, and when running they can swell up to a whole size larger! The shoes that fit so well in the store were now painfully too small. Learn from my experience. The best way to ensure a great fit is to try on shoes when your foot is still swollen to ensure they will fit comfortably after a walking around in them for a day. If you buy shoes in the morning your feet haven't had a chance to swell so a pair of shoes that fit perfectly at 10am will feel snug or even uncomfortable by 7pm. If for whatever reason you can't go shoe shopping at night narrow down your shoes to two different sizes and go with the one that is slightly larger. You're feet will
