How To Replace Minimum Wage

Imagine being a single parent with two children, and the only thing you have to survive is a minimum wage job that pays 9 dollars an hour, and you only work for approximately 9 hours. College wasn’t an option for you because you had your first child at an young age, and from then on, you had multiple jobs preventing you from getting a decent education. Because of your situation, you can’t fully provide for your children so you get help from the government and get labeled as a statistic. This is what multiple Americans are dealing with today. About 25 million people have a minimum wage job that pays less than $10 an hour, and of those people, 3.5 million work for less than $7.25. Because of this, there are thousands of people working 2+ jobs with children and are in poverty. If I could create a 28th amendment it would be to replace the minimum wage amount to a living wage because one, the cost of living in America is too high to live anywhere comfortably with a job that pays $10 or less an hour, to help reduce the poverty percentage, and to create a more equitable compensation between the manual workers and business owners. …show more content…
A minimum wage workers annual earnings is about 15 thousand dollars. Since the cost of living in contrast to the annual earnings are greatly spaced apart, you can clearly see that the minimum wage we have now isn't enough to help you live in America. Raising the minimum wage to a living wage will help people be able to afford more things easily like with bills, be more able to provide for their family ( if they have one) and gives you the freedom to not work as hard and still be able to pay for the things you need to take care of (instead of two jobs you can only
