In recent years, a strong push has been made to remove the confederate flag from southern states. It sparked heavy debate once South Carolina finally took down a confederate flag from its capital. The confederate flag symbolizes the slavery and oppression that African Americans have faced during a large part of America’s history. However, most people that use the confederate flag in any form are often unaware of what the flag symbolizes.
