How To Reduce Gun Violence In America

On February 14, 2018, a shooter attacked a Florida high school, resulting in seventeen people killed and more than a dozen others wounded. In November, a shooter opened fire on Rancho Tehama reserve in Northern California, murdering four people and harming three children. In Sutherland Springs, Texas, a week prior a man attacked a church with a firearm, murdering twenty-six people and wounding twenty. A month prior to that, a shooter staying in a room on the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas in the 32nd floor attacked people at a concert underneath, murdering fifth-nine people and wounding more than 500. As more and more gun violence like these seem to occur and rise in the United States, so do the petitions for law to reduce gun violence. People objecting respond with fear that the government is trying to take their guns. The argument comes to a complete stop after a few weeks. So even as America suffers gun violence attacks that are unequaled to rest of the industrialized world, nothing happens, no regulations are approved by Congress, nothing noteworthy is done to try to avoid the next gun attack. Americans who have the fear that their city or community could be the location where the next attack happens ponder what the next move is if any the United States has plan to decrease rates of gun violence. To reduce rates of gun violence, the federal government should implement a law that extends the waiting period on all firearm purchases to a month or more in which the individual goes through extreme background
