Right away, the sexton noticed that Mr. Hooper had a black veil on his face. Everything on his face was covered except his mouth and chin, I think this was because his smile and words are important to the mood of the story. The people begin to believe that Mr. Hooper had committed a sin and was using the veil to hide from God.…
The three works by Nathaniel Hawthorne all have overlapping themes, characters, settings, symbols, and plots. To begin, the major theme behind the stories is sin. What does it mean to be “engaged” or to be a “leader”? Yes, these questions can simply be answered with a textbook definition of the two words. To be engaged is to be involved and to be a leader is to take command, but that doesn’t illustrate what they mean in real life circumstances. The films The Painted Veil and The Official Story do just that. The female protagonists in the two films, Kitty Fane and Alicia Ibáñez, are both excellent examples of what it means to become a leader and to be engaged.…

Jarriett Hicks William Lloyd Garrison was very devoted to equality for all humans. Like Franklin, Garrison was born poor, but managed to overcome such obstacles with his resilience and dedication to denouncing the Declaration of Independence as an agreement with hell. I completely understand Garrison’s point of view about this topic because how can the document declare freedom, independence and the love of God, when slavery and oppression of blacks was being capitalized with such magnitude. Garrison argued that Slavery was a crime against God and Man-the most heinous of all crimes (932). I think he is trying to tell them they can’t endorse slavery and still say they are children of God.…
From the time we are born, we are impacted by our family’s thoughts, beliefs and behaviors. However, I believe that there comes a time in every individual’s life when they are faced with the obligation to decide whether or not they wish to continue living under the belief system they were so casually brought up with.…
The movie “Arranged” is a drama-induced film with a powerful message of integrity that religious women uphold. Arranged is a film that displays traditions that are very important in a religious household, such as marriage. Coming from two completely different traditions, Rochel, an orthodox Jew, and Nasira, a dominant Muslim, come to realize that their process for marriage is very similar. I chose to do this assignment rather than the bus ride because once I read what the movie was about, I began to be very interested in learning how the process of marriage works in other religions besides my own. I recently got engaged so I was looking forward to comparing the processes from the two women in the story with my own experiences since I am looking…
Summary Overall I definitely enjoyed reading this book, and that comes from someone who usually dislikes reading and really struggles to find books that interest himself. I really like what how the book is written and that it waists no time to get to the action. And most of all I really like the message and the…

This book is very poignant and has tons of different morals to learn from. My favorite one is to be confident. Sometimes I have difficulty with that. Scout is pretty much audacious. In consequence, she confronted a group of men who were threatening her father one day at the Jailhouse, (Lee 152).…
