How To Read-Personal Narrative

It was last Saturday and I was hanging out with my friend Connor. We had just seen the new Star Trek movie, which was very good by the way. Connor and I were walking around the mall and had stopped in Gamestop to look around. Connor and I were talking and he asked me if he could spend the night at my house. The funny thing was, just before my mom had dropped me off to the movies she told me that under no circumstances could Connor spend the night. This was because the next day we were getting up early for a workout and I had a lot of homework to do, including writing this rough draft. I told Connor this and was kind of scared to call my mom and ask her considering what she had told me earlier. I was afraid that she would get angry if I pressed her on this matter. But, being a teenager, I decided to call her anyways and ask.
After thinking about what to say, I shakily pulled out my phone and dialed her contact number.
The phone rang twice. “Hey mom!”
“Hey Zach! How was the movie?”
“It was great! Yeah… so you know why I am calling right?” There was a moment of silence.
Then my mom kind of laughed and said, “Oh yeah.”

This was totally true, yet I still told my mom that Connor and I would do our homework and not stay up late. I knew that Connor and I were older and more mature, and we would be more responsible. Now I had to just convince my mom that we would do these things that I told her we would. I spent our entire phone conversation convincing her that we were responsible enough to have a sleep over and still get our work done. My mom was still apprehensive of the idea, but she apparently gave Connor and I another chance to prove that we were mature enough to do homework and not mess around all night. It was definitely difficult to convince my parents that I am responsible with my friends especially when my track record was so bad in the

I think my reading has improved because I use better vocabulary and I can understand what I am reading. The reading strategies have helped me to become a better reader. I still rely on DJE, T2T like I did when I took basic reading as well. They are very helpful strategies that help me to read better and think about what I am reading. For this and other classes my goals are to understand what I am reading and being able to sum up what I read with very little difficulty.…

As a child, I would often struggle with reading assignments and I would lose focus on the subject. When I reminisce about those days, I recall those teachers like mechanics who did not fix the problems but sent the bill anyway. With that said, we can only focus today on where we want to go and not where we have…

The first thing I would like to state is that remembering where I wrote my reading logs was the hardest thing to do. As I was looking at my reading log I would see how uneven the numbers would very. Like one week I would read around 57 pages but the next only 33. So as I looked back in my books, I realized that when I get bored with the book I tend to just skim read. But when I read a part I really like I will read it over three times to soak up the information.…

I am unfamiliar with books, should I say “ A picky reader “. I’ve moved to the United States five years now, and I have to say I barely read. In school, it was extremely difficult for me to choose the right book to actually get into it, or sometimes, I am just lazy to read. I’d rather just sit in front of my computer for hours and play games on it, since it is my everyday routine. But, don’t get me wrong, once I find the right book, I could finish the large book in one week, or even three days.…

You are reading my words. It's a heady thought: that the movement of my fingers and the thoughts tumbling end over end inside my head will impact you. I think I'm hardwired at a biological level to write. Whether it be that hackneyed narrative assignment I wrote for my second grade class, or the three-hundred-something-paged novel that my fourth-grade teacher took home to read to her children, I’ve always had a pencil more or less surgically attached to my hand.…

Bullets of sweat started running down my face as it is my turn to read a page from a book out loud to the class. Although the book was a simple elementary level book, to me it had the complexity of Shakespeare as I looked down at the words. For many kids my age reading skills seemed to come naturally to them, they could read through pages and pages without the slightest flaw. This made me question if there was something wrong with me or if I would ever be able to read as elegantly as others seemed too. If I wanted to be like the other kids it was going to take a lot of hard work and dedication on my part, so over the summer of fourth and fifth grade I did nothing but eat and breathe books.…
