Do you ever wonder where the food on your table comes from besides the store? Food safety is a major concern in the U.S.. Knowing where your food comes from and how it was raised concerns people, because how some stock yards are not always the healthiest most safest places to get your meat from. Stock yards use many types of steroids and boosters to make their product (cows, chickens, pigs, turkeys) grow faster so they can get them to the market faster. This way of raising your livestock is dangerous not only to them but the consumers of the meat that comes from the animal. With as many viruses going around knowing where you food comes from is very important. Reason being is the beef or chicken you could be eating could be infected. Many disease that can infect cattle is E. Coli, Mad Cow disease and the list goes on and on. Just one simple disease can affect the profit of the whole herd because you could lose hundred or even thousands of head of cattle. …show more content…
Grandin was attempting to make the cattle industry safer and more efficient so you would have higher quality meat. The higher quality meat that is coming out of feedlots and stockyards the more people will buy and the more money processors will make. Since feedlots still have not developed into a safer way to raise beef moe and moe people are starting to turn to local ranchers. More people are going to them 1) when they go to them they know they are going to get good quality meat 2) grass fed beef is really good and 3) they know their beef was raised all natural and they didn’t use growth
