¨In the last three years, there has been approximately two hundred recorded school shootings in America.¨ Hundreds of innocent lives were taken, within those years. We all always ask that one question, why? Why has this happened to our country. It is slowly becoming a problem in our society, that needs to be taken charge of. According to CNN, “School shootings are far more frequent in America than in other countries.” Therefore, we must figure out who is capable of carrying out this action, determine why they decided to devote themselves to violence, and study how to prevent it from happening. Greater number of the time the motive for school shootings is bullying. For instance, every day there is some type of bullying going on whether its cyber, social, verbal or physical bullying, and every day the kid who gets bullied, go home and cry their eyes out to make themselves feel better. That same kid who gets bullied would sometimes have thoughts of taking their own life, switching schools, or even worse, getting revenge on those who made them feel this way by shooting up the school. A research shows that 72% of students who were bullied, in a fight at school, threatened or injured with a weapon, missing school because they feel unsafe and had something stolen from them are carrying a weapon. Other motives are that they have a mental illness. Not all those who are mentally ill are dangerous, but some who are mentally ill and are dealing with bullying and other imperfect things can lead to bad behavior.
