“You know 11 million people live in the shadows. I believe they are already American citizens, These people are just waiting for a chance to contribute fully. And by that standard 11 million undocumented aliens are already Americans in my view” (Vice President Joe Biden). Immigration in a large scale started in Ellis Island in New York in 1892 through 1954. Ellis Island was open to any person that came to register and during that period over 12 million people were accounted for. As well as in Angel Island was open in the West Coast for the asian immigrants so they won't travel all the way to New York to register to be in the U.S. During the time it was open they processed around 6,000 to 19,000 asian people. Fast forwarding to 1980, Census estimates around 2-4 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and estimate that a little more than half are Mexicans/Central Americans. The number of people of illegal immigrants from 1994 to 2007 increased by 8.4 million people. Most recently Obama announces an Executive order to prevent the deportation of immigrants and to stop separating families. Now in January 2017 President elect Donald Trump signs to build The Wall to close completely the border of Mexico and the U.S and an executive order suspending entry from Muslim countries as well as refuges. An illegal immigrant is someone who crosses the national borders in a way that is violating all the immigration laws to the country he/she is trying to go to. Now a legal immigrant is a person who was granted the right to stay in the United States permanently by the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services. Illegal immigrants should be allowed in the United States because it would stop the separation of immigrant families, it would better the economy of the United States and it would give better education for illegal
