In the world, today human trafficking and smuggling have been a major, up to 14,000 to 17,000 people trafficked in the U.S each year. Unfortunately, Karla Jancinto was 12 when she was targeted by a trafficker and lured her away. If more children and young adults were more aware of this problem the percentage of missing children and young adults put into human trafficking could possibly decrease. There should also be a lot of support groups for those who actually experienced it. It would most likely comfort them to know that they are not alone and, they have someone there who understands what they are going through also, parents need to tell their children about this so they are aware of the dangers and will be more careful when going out alone or with friends. Another thing that might help stop children and teens to not end up in the trafficking system is self-defense lessons. Some young girls do not know how to properly defend their selves from dangerous people. If there were free lessons for self-defense, they could know how to protect themselves and get away from the traffickers or anyone who threatens them. As far as the traffickers go I feel as if like they should be sentenced to life. The things that take place during trafficking houses is inhumane and unacceptable, they deserve to suffer in jail for what they
